7 - day Mediterran sailing jurney proposal
1. DAY Saturday
Split – The Bay of Jorija (I. Šolta) app – 2 – 2,5 h navigation
Guests are picked up from the airport or hotel and taken to the ACI Split marina. Boarding and getting settled on the boat is scheduled for the afternoon hours. Before setting sail, your Captain will greet the crew and provide basic information about life on board, the rules that apply in sailing conditions, and details about the route. Usually, the Captain holds daily briefings to discuss the weather forecast and route options. If there is any interest, the Captain is willing to give sailing lessons or to plan other activities which can influence the daily route. The departure from Split is scheduled for late afternoon; the arrival at the first destination of the Bay of Jorija, Šolta Island, is planned for dusk. The southern bays of Šolta Island are surrounded by high hills on one side and cliffs on the other side, leaving the southern beaches isolated from the rest of the island. Only a few sailors, including us, know how to reach this paradise. One of these bays, Jorija, harbors a small family restaurant which we consider to have one of the best home-made local seafood along the coast. The host and hostess will greet you with a smile and serve you a local aperitif “rakija” to stimulate your palate and get ready for a real gourmet meal. (Selected menu includes: grooper, lobster and shrimps made in pot on open fire) The overnight is scheduled to be in the bay of Jorija on the anchorage. Before leaving Jorija Bay, guests will have time to swim and relax.
2. DAY Sunday
The Bay of Jorija (I. Šolta) - Desert Blaca (I. Brač) - Jelsa (I. Hvar) – app 4 h navigation
After only two hours of sailing along the southern coasts of Šolta and Brač islands, we’ll get to Blaca Cove and the Blaca Desert. The Blaca Desert is home to one of the most spectacular monuments of architecture on Brač Island: a 15th Century monastery carved in stone by hermit monks who hid there from Turks. The visit is planned in the afternoon hours. A halfhour walk through a pine forest will get us to the monastery. The tour continues towards Jelsa, where we’ll spend the night. In the evening, a wine-tasting in the prestigious wine cellar of the wine-growers Duboković and Barbić will be organized. Duboković has a specific approach to wine production. According to him a bottle of wine contains what the vineyard gave that year. Therefore, Duboković marks different years of wines with wax of different colour. Medvid 2005 is marked with red wax, which implies that the year was exceptionally good. Guests will have opportunity to taste award-winning “Medvid” from 2005, a Croatian ruby-red wine famous for its intense bouquet of mature fruits (black cherries and plums), chocolate, cloves, and a trace of vanilla. Duboković`s “Medvid” is an exquisite wine and one of the best in Croatia.
3. DAY Monday
Town of Jelsa – Bol (I. Brač) – The Bay of Lučica (I. Hvar) app. 5 – 6 h navigation
The next stop is in Bol on Brač Island, on the beach of Zlatni rat – one of the most popular natural attractions of the Mediterranean Sea. The beach is several hundred meters long and as it enters into the blue sea, it’s appearance changes daily due to movement of wave and sea currents. Interested guest may go jet skiing, water tubing, water skiing, etc. We’ll continue our trip to the East Cape of Hvar Island, towards the inlet of Lučica where we are going to have a sea food picnic. After dinner, you’ll have the options of entertainment with music and a bowling tournament. The boat will remain overnight at the anchorage in the inlet of Lučica.
4. DAY Tuesday
Inlet Lučica (Hvar) – Laguna Lovišće (P. Pelješac) - Korčula (town) cca 2.5 h navigation
On our way to Korčula Island, we’ll stop in a wonderful lagoon at the far west of the Cape of Pelješac for a swim and a snack. After an hour of sailing from Cape of Pelješac, we’ll arrive at the birthplace of Marco Polo, the word-famous sailor and explorer from the 13th Century. There is no town or island on the Mediterranean Sea which has undergone so many battles, revolutions and changes as Korčula Island. Even those who are not fond of history will be charmed with the beauty within these ancient city walls. The house where Marco Polo was born is the pride of Korčula Island, and is open for visitors to see. The famous knight tournaments “Moreška” may be seen downtown from summer terraces in July and August. The whole afternoon is reserved for sightseeing and rest. We’ll spend the night in Korčula ACI Marina.
5. DAY Wenesday
Korčula – Ivan Dolac (I. Hvar) – Town of Hvar app 5 – 5.5 h navigation
After breakfast we’ll set off toward Ivan Dolac on Hvar Island. A noon stop is scheduled for a snack at the restaurant and winery “Bilo Idro”. The restaurant is known, not only for its delicious food, but also for its seaside location and its wine cellar built several meters below sea level. Next stop on our itinerary will be the town of Hvar where a guide will show us the stunning beauty of this amazing town. Hvar is famous for its fascinating municipal theatre built in 1612, its fort above the city, and small ancient streets full of stories and hidden charms. HOWEVER, don’t forget to experience the rich night life of Hvar - Carpe Diem, Veneranda… We will stay overnight in the port of town of Hvar.
6. DAY Thursday
Town of Hvar – Hell`s Islands – Biševo – Komiža (I. Vis) app 3.5 – 5 h navigation
After breakfast, the Islands of Hell are going to be our next stop. Although the name of the islands suggests they are related to hell (pakao in Croatian means hell), quite the contrary, these islands are more like heaven. The etymology of the name derives from rosin (in Croatian “paklina” means rosin) used as a varnish for local fishing ships. The Island of Biševo will be the next destination. A perfectly clear sea and protected seabed area around the island of Biševo will leave you breathless. In addition, we’ll visit two natural wonders: the Blue Cave and the Monk Seal Cave. The Blue Cave is a stunning attraction due to its magical show of sun rays which penetrate beneath the cave’s walls, giving the reflection of bright blue marine color to the whole cave. The Monk Seal Cave is the last habitat of the Mediterranean Monk Seal in the Mediterranean. The next destination is the Island of Vis, where the boat will stop in the town of Komiža (the oldest fishing settlement in the Adriatic Sea).. Two towns share the same island yet are different in their destiny and historical development. The town of Vis was founded at the time of the Greeks. Together with Pharos (Island of Hvar) it was a commercial and nautical center, while Komiža was always a little fishing village. Until 1993, Vis island was under military control and thus out of reach of foreigners. This saved the island from uncontrolled tourism development and, as a result, the island has preserved its genuine atmosphere where fishermen, wine and olive growers still live their peaceful lives. The island boasts a number of natural sights such as Tito’s Cave, and gigantic cliffs. Before dinner, we’ll visit the highest peak of the island called “Hum” where you will have an opportunity to witness the most spectacular view on the South Adriatic Sea. We’ll have dinner at the top of Vis Island, in the courtyard of an old stone house called Roki’s - a famous wine producer and chef. We’ll taste the wine “Viška Vugava” and enjoy delicious indigenous dishes. Selected menu includes Vis Island focaccia, tuna prosciutto, octopus, fish and lamb under the bell (traditional Croatian meal made under a metal pot over an open fire) and Rozata pudding for dessert. We will stay overnight in the port of Komiža.
7: DAY Friday
Komiža (I. Vis) – Split app 5.5 - 7 h navigation
We’ll sail around the south part of Vis Island and spend some time in the most beautiful Adriatic cove – Stiniva. After the break we’ll go to the restaurant “Mala Travna”. Senko Karuza, a poet, philosopher, artist and cook, found his sanctuary here. His house is also a restaurant, although in this case, the term “restaurant” may not describe the experience you will get at his place. Since his meals cannot be experienced in any regular restaurant. Almost all food, spices, vegetables and wine are produced by Senko and his friends. There is no menu or ordering. Senko serves what he prepared or fished that day. Every stay at his house is a happening, eg, property tour, music, poetry readings, etc. First, different hors d’oeuvres are served, then fish and seafood chowder with vegetables (fish is first grilled and smoked over sage leaves), and afterwards, delicious spaghetti with home-made tomato sauce, salted sardines with tomato, and capers with onion, all seasoned with olive oil and a special vinegar with herbs. And finally, the entrée is boiled and grilled conger eel. The arrival at Split is scheduled for the night hours.

This trip may be modelled, some events may be added and others omitted or changed. The itinerary is completely subject to changes due to weather conditions. In such case, the most attractive places will be visited but not necessarily in the above said order. Your captain will inform you promptly on all possible changes during your trip.
